I previously had 1.0rc1a installed and it would die without warning or logging whenever I tried to access it.

I just installed rc2 and tried to access it.

When I clicked the preference pane the title changed to "Loading AlmostVPN/PRO...", and then I got a dialog box:

Problems with AlmostVPNTool. Will Crash Now. 2006-08-16 11:19:11 -0600 : MoreSecurity? helperTool != NULL - /Users/atchijov/Work/xcode.workspace/LBToolbox/MoreIsBetter/MoreSecurity.m:2089

After clicking OK, the window appeared to freeze for a couple seconds, and then I got the standard crash dialog.

This is on 10.4.7 on PPC, running no haxies or APE. I am running some Safari plugins and SIMBL.

falsal, I do want to see content of that "standard crash dialog". Could you please e-mail it to support@leapingbytes.com?

Once you e-mailed it, you can try to do "AlmostVPN Uninstall" and than try to install again. It might help to get you going.

Could you please answer following questions:

  1. When you open "Get Info" dialog on the drive which contains your home directory, What do you see in "Format:" filed of "General:" section?
  2. Does your "/System" folder located on different hard drive/partition ?
  3. What do you see when you open "Get Info" on the drive/partition which contains "/System" folder?
