AlmostVPN Pro 1.0 RC2b uninstall script WIPES HARDDISK!

Could you please answer following questions:

1. When you open "Get Info" dialog on the drive which contains your home directory, What do you see in "Format:" filed of "General:" section?
2. Does your "/System" folder located on different hard drive/partition ?
3. What do you see when you open "Get Info" on the drive/partition which contains "/System" folder?

If my assumptions are correct, you should get message "Can not install in ~/Library ..." and than it should just work.

Yes, error message of RC2a is:

Can not install AlmostVPNServer in

~/Library/Application Support/AlmostVPNPRO

Will try to install in

/Library/Application Support/AlmostVPNPRO

Prompts me for Amdin and password and installs.

But, AlmostVPNPro RC2a does not load. System Prefs panel remains empty.

Could you please run this command for me and post its results to this ticket

Yes, great: your uninstall script, Andrei, wiped out most of my harddisk including most of my documents! That is not acceptable for a software that is supposed to be 'release candidate'. Since AlmostVPN requires admin privilege to install, this is a particularly vicious mistake. I am really disappointed at this amateurish mistake.

I am terribly sorry. You are absolutely right, it is unforgivable mistake. I guess it is not much of a conciliation for you, but I just want to let you know that I have withdrawn RC2b from circulation. Also I have posted "UGENT MESSAGE" on AlmostVPN home page about danger of Uninstall.

It is not much of an excuse, but the major reason why this happen was the fact that I was really pleased with the fact that I finally figured out the reason for that particular crash (it was bugging me for last month). And I was eager to get this fix to the customers (to you) so they can confirm that the problem has been solved.

I do not know if after this accident, you will want to have anything to do with Leaping Bytes in general and AlmostVPN in particular ( I am not sure if I would if I had this kind of experience). Unfortunately, I can not do anything about your wiped out hard drive. If you think of something that I can do to lessen the damage, please let me know (email me at andrei@leapingbytes.com). As of now, I am not in a position to provide you with any significant monetary compensation, but I will be more than happy to do my best to make you "forget" about this accident.

I believe original problem was fixed with RC2b release.

Brand new Uninstaller created and gets shipped starting with RC2c

Both fixes will be part of RC3 regular release.
