My home network has a machine running Windows 2000 Server. I do not run DNS at my home. I access everything through IP address. It is a 192.168.x.x class-c network. When I'm at home, I can simply type in the Finder's Go to Server field: smb://192.168.100.2/c$ and it mounts just fine. If I set up AlmostVPN at work, set up to ssh to my mac at home, It will not work.
I set it up in "Drives" using my Mac's Account, click the windows button, put either 192.168.100.2 or the hostname of the windows box in the Host Name field (I added the hostname into the names area pointed to the 192.x.x.x address) put c$ as path and the username and password to the server. It said it's connecting, but not drive ever mounts.
If I go to a terminal and do a standard smb_mount from localhost to a folder in the filesytem, it mounts just fine, and in the command-line, I can move around on my home server just fine. It never works in the finder, though. Even if I do the old smb://localhost/c$ it never comes up in the finder. If I look for the folder I mounted it to through the finder, it will not show the contents.
I sure love the concept of this product, but I really would like it to mount this drive. It's the primary reason I downloaded it.
Thanks for your time.
