Almost VPN Version 0.9.4 Release Notes
What is New
As a small consolation for mess with Panther support in 0.9.3, Menu Bar control was implemented. It provides the same level of functionality as AlmostVPN Widget on Tiger ( you can list/monitor/start/stop profiles created in AlmostVPN Preference Pane). Obviously, it could be used by Tiger folks too. Jut do not forget, that if you want to be able to start/stop profiles, you local account password should be stored in AlmostVPN keychain.
What Was Fixed Since 0.9.3
- Ticket #3. Request ssh key-based (passwordless) access
- Ticket #60. login.keychain
- Ticket #62. Will not mount an SMB drive from my home network to my work network.
- Ticket #64. AlmostVPN should clean all temprorary files once profile gets stopped
- Ticket #66. AlmostVPN complains about failure to locate almostVPN@almostVPN password
Almost VPN Version 0.9.3 Release Notes
What is New
Up until this version AlmostVPN used to use fixed password for its private keychain. Some users pointed out that this presents security risk. As of 0.9.3 AlmostVPN will generate random 64 characters long password for the keychain and store it in user login keychain. If you want to use this new feature, you will need to remove exiting AlmostVPN keychain (you will loose all your passwords, but rest of configuration will stay). Simplest way to remove keychain is by using "Keychain Access" application from /Applications/Utilities (File/Delete Keychain AlmostVPN).
Now it is possible to make AlmostVPN to ask for password each time it needs to use one. Just enter special word "@ask@" instead of password and you will get nice dialog asking you to enter password each time AlmostVPN needs one. It works the same way for ssh account's passwords and for drive's passwords.
NOTE: when widget used to start profile, dialog asking for the password will appear "under" dashboard. You need to dismiss dashboard to be able to type in a password
