Almost VPN Version 0.9 Beta 3 Release Notes
Good News
It looks like this is going to be last Beta. Unless some major problem found really soon, next release will be RC1.
Supported Platform
Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. Product gets developed and tested on Mac OX 10.4.3. To the best of author knowledge there is no any reason why it should not work on earlier versions. Please let me know if it worked for you on older versions.
What Is New Since Beta 2
- "Account Manager" sport "Test Account" button which allows to deal with "unknown fingerprint" #8
- "Known Host Manager" can import from /etc/hosts file #5
- SSH session is using TCPKeepAlive option #6
- SSH session will try to reconnect automatically after connection was closed by server #7
What Was Fixed Since Beta 2
- "Test Account" button should take care of biggest problem of Beta 2. Now you do not have to do "sudo ssh...." trick to make it work.
What Still Does Not Work:
- You can not use more than one "Almost VPN" connection for given service at a time. What does it mean? You can configure 10 connections to different private e-mail servers, but you will be able to access only one of them at a time. On the other side, you can mount as many different volumes as you want as soon as they all come from the same server. This limitation will stay for recreational version of the product, but will be removed in professional version.
- "Almost VPN" connection for "Apple Remote Desktop" was not tested at all. I will appreciate a lot if someone who has ARD tries it and let me know.
