Supported Platform
Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. Product gets developed and tested on Mac OX 10.4.3. It employs at least one Tiger specific feature - launchd, so it can not be used (in current form) on Panther.
What Is New Since Beta 3
- Almost VPN now supports identity files protected by passphrase. Just type your passphrase as a password and all will be well.
- Shiny new Almost VPN Widget. Allows you to monitor state and start/stop Almost VPN profiles.
- Updated icons.
What Was Fixed Since Beta 3
- Almost VPN now detects if you provided incorrect password for your local account (used to hang).
- Nasty hanging problem when you trying to do 'test account' without specifying password and server demand you to provide one (thanks JJ for catching this bugger)
- Problems with some of updates not getting through if field did not loose focus
- Under some conditions AlmostVPN used to mixed profiles (save "default" as "Quick Start" for example).
- Almost VPN was trying to stop "selected" profile not "running" profile.
- Incorrect tool tips fixed in many places
What Still Does Not Work:
- You can not use more than one "Almost VPN" connection for given service at a time. What does it mean? You can configure 10 connections to different private e-mail servers, but you will be able to access only one of them at a time. On the other side, you can mount as many different volumes as you want as soon as they all come from the same server. This limitation will stay for recreational version of the product, but will be removed in professional version.
- "Almost VPN" connection for "Apple Remote Desktop" was not tested at all. I will appreciate a lot if someone who has ARD tries it and let me know. I got update on this one. It looks like ARD is too smart for its own good. It detects that you are trying to connect to your local host and refuse to do so. As a result ARD support moved to "professional" version.
