How to get to your files with AlmostVPN.

Tunnels are wonderful things, but to use some of the more sophisticated protocols you have to do more than just to create a port.  AFP (Apple File sharing Protocol) and SMB ( Windows file sharing protocol) are very good examples: getting access to remote files is one of the tasks people want to do quite often (and among other tasks that people want to do quite often it is relatively useful thing to do).  AlmostVPN helps you with this activity via Drives Manager View.

Anatomy of Drives Manager View

To configure access to remote drive you have to use Drives Manager View

To add new drive click button. Once you added new drive, you will have a chance to enter additional information. Select appropriate Account. Choose Type of drive: for AFP or for Windows. Enter server name where shared drive is located into Host Name field. Enter shared drive name into Path field. User Name and Password are the same user name and password you are using when you mounting this drive while inside of your office network.
NOTE: There are few nuances about Host Name field in Drives Manager View. In case of (AFP) drive, you MUST enter internal IP address OR host name resolvable to internal IP address of the server you are trying to connect to (Read How to Deal With Names to find out how you can make sure that the name is resolvable). In case of (Windows) drive, you MUST enter host name (not IP address) of the server you are trying to connect to. This host name should be resolvable to internal IP address.
NOTE: User Name and Password could be different from your local user name and password and from user name and password you are using to access SSH server.
